Alejandra in Mexico made this for me. Since I can't draw a straight line with a ruler, I'm in love. And I feel special.

Not that I’d want to distract you from the glory that is my last.fm (CLICK HEEEERRRRRREEEEEEE), but I’ve gotten a ton of requests asking me to blog up what I’ve been listening to lately. Everyone also wants me to start listing my top albums of 2010. Welp, that’s what I keep a last.fm for. Lord knows I don’t remember. So here you go.

Fleet Foxes. Full of Harmonic Awesome.

Oh Yeah.

Sound: Indie Folk  Rock meets Beach Boys + Choir Style Harmonizing.
Album: Fleet Foxes (2008)

Why?
Just when you didn’t think they could come up with new sounds, styles and twists on (rock) music… someone always comes up with something. Fleet Foxes, an Indie Folk Band hailing from Seattle, Washington have managed to combine a beautiful folk rock sound with distinctive usage of unique instruments as well as the most basic instrument of all… Their Voices. Fleet Foxes most distinctive characteristic is their amazing harmonizing ability. They can go from sounding like a well-rounded folk band to sounding like they are singing Mozart hymns in a catholic church.  Thing is, if anyone else did this… it just wouldn’t sound right.  But somehow, they manage to get their Animal Collective/Beach Boys on, and pull off this balance of harmonies and rockin in a beautiful way.

Here. Just check the YouTubes:

You hear what I’m talking about? Thats just too much awesome harmonizing coming from one band. And its pretty amazing.

Anyways, give it a chance, and have fun.
