The Cool Kids drop some newness to support "When Fish Ride Bicycles;" Dropping July 12th. Links:

I didnt know that The Cool Kids had a date on their new album. Or that its dropping like, next week. LoL.
Swipe from the kids over at Potholes. Because they’re awesome and I’m lazy.

The Cool Kids are back promoting their July 12 release, When Fish Ride Bicycles. Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish look to come together on an 11 track, playground four square battle, chock-full of cherry bombs and Pharrell beats. For now the duo swirly the N.E.R.D.’s production, “Summer Jam”, featuring Star Trak soul-singer Maxine Ashley. It follows the summer track formula: catchy drum pattern, stabbing guitar and smooth e-piano. It’s a glass of icy lemonade at 100 degrees outside with Neptunes flavor. “Gas Station”, has a Southern a la Outkast, Killer Mike, and Dungeon Family feeling. The track helps itself by adding UGK’s Bun B to the mix. Both songs are easy listening, cool kid, summer anthems. Stay chill in the heat by listening to these tracks. [via]

Enjoy.

Holly Miranda and Rachael Cantu Live at The Bootleg Theatre – 7.6.11. Link:

If I haven’t previously spoken on the amazingness that is Rachael Cantu in all her glory… forgive me. But she’s basically one of the illest female indie acts to come out of Southern California lately. While I’m backed up with multiple concerts to go to, you might want to go check out Rachael with her friend Holly Miranda opening at the Bootleg. Definitely worth the measly $10 ticket. Swipe from LA Weekly:

Holly Miranda’s enchanting vocals float through a shiny sea of swirling synth tones and layers of shimmering atmospherics on her latest album, The Magician’s Private Library, which was produced by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek. The ethereal soundscapes often evoke the Cocteau Twins, but Miranda puts her own distinct stamp on such engrossing interludes as “Waves” and “Slow Burn Trea-son.” A track like “Joints” comes off like a Pink Floyd reverie, but it’s brightened by Miranda’s airy vocals, thoughtful lyrics and compel-lingly feminine mystique. The O.C. native Rachael Cantu has a more straightforward pop-folk style, but her songs are more intelligent than most waiflike singer-songwriters, and her spare version of Tom Waits’ “San Diego Serenade” is both intimate and haunting.

Check out her Facebook page for more music and info on the show tonight, and go have some fun.

Holy shit son. Holy shit. How I’m feeling about this is real. This album is The Electronic Future. The Techno Way and the light.
SBTRKT basically just came through and make me like some shit that I usually dont like. And were passing “like” status. Were getting to “playing this shit daily” type-love. Its serious. Real talk? Fuck all that Frank Ocean shit.

This is where my attention is for now. Read the rest of this entry »

Awesome.

In case you didn’t notice…. It looks like the Red Hot Chilli Peppers are gearing up their Social Media game for their new album release, “I’m With You.” Starting a brand new twitter account a few days ago, then tweeting a picture of the boys at a photo shoot to make things official, the new RCHP Twitter seems like this will be the place to get updates on their newest project and other random awesomeness, like their very first trip to Hong Kong. Thought they woulda did that already.

More importantly… they’ve already listed the Tracklisting for their new album. So you know its serious.

Brothers and sisters! Here are the song titles of our new record ‘I’m With You’ Yeeeeah muthafuckas!

1. Monarchy of Roses
2. Factory of Faith

Did we discuss the new Random Axe Video for "The Hex?" Because thats out now. Links:

Set for a June 14th release, the combination of Black Milk + Sean Price + Guilty Simpson = Random Axe; which could be the most kick ass thing to happen to Hip Hop in a while. Also, could be the most randomly awesome mix-up of people since the surprise of Hail Mary Mallon. Plus, if I don’t tell you about this, it would be an injustice to music, and Hexmurda would hunt me down and hate on me to my face.

Enjoy.
