It looks decent. It sounds better though.

So one day in twitterland, I noticed that @Questlove had changed his twitter avatar picture to what looked like the new cover for “Wake Up!” his new collaborative effort with John Legend. I commented on it shortly, tweeting that I couldn’t pay attention to anything else but what was in that avatar, and wanting to know more. Well, he was nice enough to get back with a twitpic link to the artwork for me, saying “let’s start here. 3-ALBUMS-IN 2010. you thought #HIGO was all? nope i got #musicfordays.”

Well sh*t dude. Now I wanna know what this magical third album is, who it’s with, where its coming from and when can I get it. God. I Hate/Love when my favorite musicians tease me.

Amy and Nas Partying in London. I hope something musically productive comes of this.

In other news, I just wanted to post this one photo of my musical dreams coming true. Depending on how it goes. It seems that Nas and Amy Winehouse have finally touched basis and gotten together to spend some time in London. Amy had been sending Nas secret signals of her adoration since her first album with “In My Bed,” and more blatant references to her love in “Me and Mr. Jones….” So I’ve been wondering if eventually their paths would cross. And they have.

Amy continues to look healthier and has taken off that engagement ring from Blake off her finger (PRAISE JEBUS) and was out and about with two of her (my) favorite musicians, Nas and Damian Marley. The tabloids are going to do whatever they want with this story, but I just want to see some kinda awesome Musical collaboration between all these people. And soon. Hopefully since she’s off the smack, it might actually happen.

These are the random, awesome things that intrigued me in music today. I’m sorry I couldn’t add tons more, as I’m doing 12 things at one time.
Enjoy.

Things I’m listenting to: John Legend and The Roots sounds REALLY good; Nikki Minaj lightly addresses the whole Keyes situation.

This does not sound corny. At All.

After the epic victory that was the sampling of John Legend’s song “Again” for their new song “Doin’ It Again” on the flawless albun “How I got Over,” it looks like John and ?uestlove heard the same potential win I heard, and decided to get on with their Collabrative album,  “Wake Up!” And as you can imagine, it sounds like its packed with Soulful goodness. “Our Generation” is one of the first peeks we get at this album. And it’s looking pretty good thus far.

I don't know if BET awards count.

Meanwhile, back in mainstreamland… It looks like Nikki Minaj finally feels like addressing the sh*tstorm of hate being sent her way, mainly from a lil lady named Keyes, who basically got on the YouTube with a LOT of aggression, and systematically picked apart everything I’m not to keen on when it comes to Nikki… the over-exaggerated rap technique (I like to think of her as a more wild Left Eye and lesbian Lil’ Kim mated), the claiming of Harajuku and Barbie being the influence of your style, and the overall feeling of doing too much. Already at one million views… it started to reach a point where you felt like ol’ girl had to say something. If you havent seen the madness, watch.

Made me wonder if Nikki could just spit without doing all the extras that turn some people off at times. And with the length in delay of her response, most people wondered if she was going to respond at the well targeted battle dis at all. And she did. Making her point sweet and short, Nikki appears in DJ Khalid’s “All I Do Is Win” remix, and basically fires shot in Keyes general direction, without naming any names.

Pros: I didn’t think there was any real general reason to have an “All I Do Is Win” Remix when it first popped up on my MTV. Until Busta Rhymes came in and destroyed his verse, then Nikki used her 8 bars (32 beats, lol) to address her country of heritage (Oh. Trinidad), let you know that she’s aware that chick is alive and spitting firey hate, and reminds you that she doesn’t care because she’s paid.  Cons? while I’m impressed to hear a completely different kind of Nikki Minaj…. focused and aggressive and without the  over-exaggerated delivery… I now know that I am tired about hearing about her supposed money stacks, whether they be fiction or fact. I’m sure its fact, but now that I’ve heard this more assertive version of her… I want more of THAT, and not “Ima barbie and I got my money right” Nikki.
It sounds like you got substance ma. Let me HEAR it.

Anyways, enough rambling. Enjoy the music.
