So the Music Nerdery continues with Freeway and Jake One. Check Out My New “Stimulus Check.”

Check this awesomeness.
So I preordered my copy of the Amazing album, “The Stimulus Package,” about 2 weeks before it dropped. If I can give my money directly to the source, I’ll always take that route… I wanna make sure my money gets to the right place. Especially in this economy.

So in return for making a direct order from The Fifth Element Online, you got an AWESOME package of stuff included with your CD, which already had some of the best packaging and liner notes of the last 12 months. All of this for $14.50 including the shipping, which frankly is  a steal.

look at all this free awesome.

Now, if that wasn’t enough to activate the Music Nerd in you, wait until you see what I got in the mail on saturday from Jake One, Freeway and The Fifth Element… My Official Stimulus Package Check. Just when I thought it was over, Jake and Freeway take music marketing, packaging and over all coolness to a whole other level with this one…

Taking that Music Nerdery to a WHOLE new level. And yes, in the upper right hand corner...

YES. The Jake One/Freeway STAMP, family. They are THOROUGH. but wait... it gets better....

Inside is a HAND SIGNED Stimulus "Check" from Jake (Secretary of Beats) and Freeway (Chief of Rhymes) for %15 of my next purchase at the Fifth Element Store. Seriously. How much cooler can this shit get? My musical journey is complete. LoL.

Musicians and those in the music business trying to figure out how to move units in this day of the digital download…. Take note.
THIS is how you do an album release. Giving the fans not only the great packaging and liner notes and a great album of music… but paying attention to and showing appreciation for the fans out there, with little things like this. These are the things that keep your fans dedicated, and waiting for more. In my case, its got me up and blogging (even tho I’m not really feeling it) because if you guys can take the time to sit down and sign I don’t know HOW many of these things… the least I can do is blog about how AMAZING it is, along with a full album review (coming shortly).

Seriously, I havent seen anything THIS thorough since Tanya Morgan came through with the Brooklynatti Survival Kit last year. That was pretty amazing.

Anyways, enjoy the photos, and spread the word. If  you havent purchased that Jake One/Freeway album, direct order that through their distributor, Fifth Element. You Cant Lose.

Also, a lot of you noticed that yesterday was one of the first days in history of this newbie blog where I didnt post anything. Just to let you know, I will be taking a day or two off for a minute to attend to some family business (drama), reup my blog supply and get back to you with more good music. If anything major happens, including news with VH1Soul, I will have someone update and get you informed quickly.

Thanks for reading.
Enjoy.

Donwill's New Mixtape: Laura's Tape | Tanya Morgan Is On Tour. You should go. Seriously.

Dopeness.

I’m late as usual, but heres a wonderfully written review taken from our friends at Hip Hop is Cool Again:

The craving for Donwill‘s solo album, Don Cusack in High Fidelity, can now be at least partly satiated – Donwill’s Laura’s Tape mixtape has finally arrived. Dropping just in time for Valentine’s Day and mixed by DJ KingMost, who, in keeping with the High Fidelity theme, plays the role of DJ Rob Gordon, Laura’s Tape is laden with hip-hop and R&B sounds alike. The first listen gives feelings of romantic evenings and picturesque dates, but listening closely to the lyrics, this mixtape is actually the story of a journey between lovers, making it the perfect mixtape for spending some quality time with your significant other.

Essential characters are introduced in the mixtape as each interlude is named after a character from High Fidelity. With interludes ranging in topic from couples fighting, to friends trying to interpret a woman’s words, the tale takes form as a prelude to the Don Cusack full-length. The connection between the two projects is seamless. “The mixtape is a continuation of the album’s concept,” says Donwill about the movie-themed concept that ties both projects together. “In High Fidelity, the movie peaks as the lead character, Rob Gordon, is making a mixtape for his long-time love interest, Laura. This mixtape references that moment, and that’s why I thought it fit so well with the Valentine’s Day theme.”

Although the mixtape is filled primarily with songs that fans will not be hearing on the official album, Donwill still managed to sprinkle in a few album previews with the inclusion of “Love Junkie” and “I See You,” both of which are singles from Don Cusack. Overall, while fans will certainly recognize classic Tanya Morgan elements throughout the mixtape and forthcoming album, both projects will offer listeners a variation of sounds. “My solo album definitely represents a different sound for our listeners, and this mixtape is a great first taste of what’s to come.” Sounds like some pretty good treats for the Valentine’s Day weekend, we’d say.

And I’d say hes absolutely right.
So that brings us to our next topic… Tanya Morgan on tour to support Donwill’s New Release along with new friends, Kooley High.
Now I’m kinda angry inside that they wont be able to hit the westcoast for a while, but if you’re on the east, this is nothing but good news to you.

GO SEE THEM.

Go see them NOW.

Thanks.

"Whoever did that to Ilyas hair is wrong for that one." ©Von Pea

So Tanya Morgan are teaming up with Drake once again for what looks like a Live show pretty soon. And we already know Tanya Morgan and Drake make a great combo.

So if you’re anywhere near VCU on February 3rd, I need you to do me a favor. Go ahead and peep the power that is Tanya Morgan, teaming up with Hip Hop Sensation Wheelchair Jimmy Drake. I can guarantee that this will be a great show. You’re bound to have a great time.

For now, enjoy some Drake and TM I found floating on the internets. And go have fun.

Coming from our peoples at over at Hip Hop is Cool Again and Rappers I Know, I found two new Tanya Morgan tracks. One coming from a new mixtape, “The 808 Experiment” in conjunction with SMKA… known for their dope mixtape compilations…. and from a New Track with Drake and Von Pea, called “My New.” With top-notch lyricism coming from the 3 MC’s in this group (who will be getting their own blog one day, please believe it), it’s just another hot track from these up and comers. Any new music from these kids is good music, please believe it.

Now, onto Jay Electronica…

Along with Tanya Morgan, we got another MC here… who, with the right focus, could be something decent. I have to admit, I passed over Jay Electronica. Wasnt really interested in him initially, felt like his shine only came from the fact that he was dating Erykah Badu at the time (its true), and from his earlier tracks, I had written him off as a barstuffer. But with time, patience, and a track produced by Just Blaze (you can’t lose), I’ve come around to giving this MC a chance to impress me. Now, if we could just get a video thats longer than 30 seconds…

Intriguing, to say the least. I wish we would have gotten more, but I think that’s what he wants us to do at this point. LoL.

Definitely tracks and cats worth getting familiar with.

Enjoy.
