A more condensed, much more random extension of Music Nerdery and a result of securing Kaki King’s name on Tumblr, I just hopped on tumblr because everyone keeps nagging me about it. So here you go. The New Music Nerdery Tumblr (yeah I should update, I know. One thing at a time). Go ahead and follow it, I will follow you back. Make sure you know about the Twitter page too, as well as the new Definition Page. You’ll know when you read it.

Yay! Social Media!

Lets see if they do this right.

Some great information from Mr. EricSoul thats definitely worth checking out. If you’re a nerd, you love museums, or you like Hip Hop Music and the Culture behind it… you’re going to love this. The Grammy Museum has put together one of the first Comprehensive Hip Hop Historical exhibits I’ve seen in a minute. “Hip Hop – A Cultural Odyssey” (click here for more info) starts THIS SATURDAY (2.5.2011) and runs til May 4th… so you basically have no excuse to not stop by.  Some of the amazing stuff they’ll have on display?

  • original, handwritten song lyrics by rapper Tupac Shakur
  • LL Cool J TROOP suit and Kangol hat
  • Run DMC leather jacket and pants worn during Walk This Way performance with Aerosmith
  • DJ Jazzy Jeff Homebase Tour jacket
  • Grandmaster Flash turntables
  • Hip-Hop sneaker gallery from the private collection of Hip-Hop recording artist Everlast
  • and much, much more!

So yeah. That’s the type of nerdy stuff I’m into.
    Maybe I’ll see you there.

So @MegaRan used the word “Nerdery” in his new song. I secretly influence my friends.

I love when stuff like this happens.
Lets just be clear. I know that Nerdery is not really a word. You know that Nerdery is not really a word. But in OUR  world? Music Nerdery = The act of being and doing incredibly Nerdy and Geeky yet genuine things in the name of Music and Music only. Yes. Making new words is awesome, thanks for asking.

So I have a great friend and wonderful musician who goes by the name of MegaRan (AKA: Random). A creative MC and consummate video game nerd, MegaRan has corned the market of taking music from legendary Nintendo games, and then spitting hot fiyah over them. It’s a huge niche/scene that really seems to be taking off. Come to think about it, maybe you should hook up with Inverse Phase. Come up with that new geeky hotness.

Anyways, while spitting hot fiyah in the studio over the old Dragon Warrior theme music (Yes family. Dragon Warrior.),  Mega subconsciously uses the word “Nerdery” within the first 16 bars. He then wasted no time getting on twitter and letting me know about it. I then wasted no time in putting it up here to share the nerd glory. Listen Below:

LOLz.
Thats cool.
Thanks, Random… for sharing with me.

Off to see the first taping of Conan O’Brien. Will be back with photos. Take care.
