Norah Jones talks about new album “Features;” Goes In-Depth with Tavis Smiley.

I would totally let my boyfriend impregnate her without consequence.

So if you missed it, Norah Jones has been out and about lately, giving really great interviews and insight as to what shes been up to, what her plans for new albums are, and whatever else she can get into while you have time to ask. A few weeks ago, she sat down with Tavis Smiley (PBS) and gave a great account of what she’s been up to, where her music is taking her, the process of writing and creating… on and on and on. A great interview that you can read in full, or you can check out the full audio recording on Tavis Smiley’s site, where he keeps his transcripts ready. You can click here to get into that interview.

Recently, she talked about her newest album, a collaboration effort that includes artists like Q-Tip and Talib Kweli and to Ryan Adams and Willie Nelson. Due out November 2nd, “Features” looks like it might be interesting.

Tracklisting:

1. Love Me – The Little Willies
2. Virginia Moon – The Foo Fighters featuring Norah Jones
3. Turn Them – Sean Bones featuring Norah Jones
4. Baby It’s Cold Outside – Willie Nelson featuring Norah Jones
5. Bull Rider – Norah Jones and Sasha Dobson
6. Ruler Of My Heart – Dirty Dozen Brass Band featuring Norah Jones
7. The Best Part – El Madmo
8. Take Off Your Cool – OutKast featuring Norah Jones
9. Life Is Better – Q-Tip featuring Norah Jones
10. Soon The New Day – Talib Kweli featuring Norah Jones
11. Little Lou, Prophet Jack, Ugly John – Belle & Sebastian featuring Norah Jones
12. Here We Go Again – Ray Charles featuring Norah Jones
13. Loretta – Norah Jones featuring Gillian Welch and David Rawlings
14. Dear John – Ryan Adams featuring Norah Jones
15. Creepin’ In – Norah Jones featuring Dolly Parton
16. Court & Spark – Herbie Hancock featuring Norah Jones
17. More Than This – Charlie Hunter featuring Norah Jones
18. Blue Bayou – Norah Jones featuring M. Ward

Some are old tracks, and some are things I never even knew happened.
Again, I’m interested.
Enjoy.

Questlove tweets about supposed Third Album; Cover Art for “Wake Up!” | Amy Winehouse and Nas party together in London. Photos:

It looks decent. It sounds better though.

So one day in twitterland, I noticed that @Questlove had changed his twitter avatar picture to what looked like the new cover for “Wake Up!” his new collaborative effort with John Legend. I commented on it shortly, tweeting that I couldn’t pay attention to anything else but what was in that avatar, and wanting to know more. Well, he was nice enough to get back with a twitpic link to the artwork for me, saying “let’s start here. 3-ALBUMS-IN 2010. you thought #HIGO was all? nope i got #musicfordays.”

Well sh*t dude. Now I wanna know what this magical third album is, who it’s with, where its coming from and when can I get it. God. I Hate/Love when my favorite musicians tease me.

Amy and Nas Partying in London. I hope something musically productive comes of this.

In other news, I just wanted to post this one photo of my musical dreams coming true. Depending on how it goes. It seems that Nas and Amy Winehouse have finally touched basis and gotten together to spend some time in London. Amy had been sending Nas secret signals of her adoration since her first album with “In My Bed,” and more blatant references to her love in “Me and Mr. Jones….” So I’ve been wondering if eventually their paths would cross. And they have.

Amy continues to look healthier and has taken off that engagement ring from Blake off her finger (PRAISE JEBUS) and was out and about with two of her (my) favorite musicians, Nas and Damian Marley. The tabloids are going to do whatever they want with this story, but I just want to see some kinda awesome Musical collaboration between all these people. And soon. Hopefully since she’s off the smack, it might actually happen.

These are the random, awesome things that intrigued me in music today. I’m sorry I couldn’t add tons more, as I’m doing 12 things at one time.
Enjoy.

Kaki King and Mike Einziger of Incubus: The 9:30 Club; Washinton DC – 4.29.2010. Video:

with 2 comments

oh man.

It's like every little nerdy dream I ever had is coming true.

Hey people.

Well, if you didn’t make it to Kaki’s 9:30 show… looks like you missed out. Guitarist Extraordinaire and longtime KakiNerd Mike Einziger of Incubus fame took some time out of his busy schedule to come through and bless Kaki with an appearance at her show. Introduced to Kaki through his band mate Ben Kenney, Mike has been a fan ever since. As you already know… sh*t went down, and it was filled with hard rockin, shoe gazing, carpel tunnel syndrome causing guitar WONDER. We got really lucky and had a friend, @wojo4hitz take care of the video part of things for you… she got amazing footage of this epic win for us. Thanks for that, girlie.

You can go through @hammycammy’s flickr set of photos here, or you witness the win for yourself below:

Mike comes on in:

Doing the Wrong Thing/My Nerves Commited Suicide  (Great Version):

Gouge Both Your Eyes (But Only Eat One):

Pull Me Out Alive

A choppy, yet somehow still cool Lintoria

Communist Friends with a funny little intro:

Gay Sons of Lesbian Mothers:

…and Kaki addresses the Rumor Mill….

And proceed to geek out, much like I did.

Have fun.

And thanks Mike!!!
