Dear Internets. The D’Angelo Album is REAL. Let me attempt to prove it to you (Part Two):

with 4 comments

Remember when I was telling you the D’Angelo Album is Real? Yeah. More Proof.

If you didn’t believe me, the backtracking, general watching, and the fact that a good friend is actually in the middle of mastering this album… then lets go ahead and get the clear and precise Questlove internet statments on top of all of that.

Coming from my friend Andrew and Gedi over at Prefix and Potholes, they went ahead and pointed out some awesomeness at The Urban Daily and on Facebook that I somehow missed out on… and awesome little quip that basically verifies everything I’ve been saying for the last few months, including the people who are involved in it.  Yay for facebook screenshots. Awesome. Click the links if you want more.

Okay.

Yeah, I should have posted this up ages ago, but Computer Armageddon folks. Still catching up. Still important to post up and update you on, since, you know. I kinda love this dude regardless.

Please let this be good.

Anyways, after a small pause between the last interview and this one… and readjusting to the new 350 word limit (dammit…) it feels good to be back at it. And this is why.

Click here… leave a comment for me… judge my writing and tell me what to do better. LoL.

Unexpected Win.

Always finding new and impressive ways to up and surprise me, Mayer Hawthorne comes through with his latest project, “Impressions: The Covers” EP. Filled with with wonderful covers of everyones old school favorites, like ‘(I got) Work To Do, ‘Fantasy Girl,’ and ‘You’ve got the Makings of a Lover,’ Mayer is basically establishing his talents and dominance in the awesome niche of Retro Soul, and music overall. And its free. So there’s really no losing involved in any of this right now. Unless you dont download it.

This boy is good, I’m a believer after this little joint. As If I wasnt before.

Anyways, you can download the EP in full by heading here. Break it open on Sunday morning, get your breakfast game on, sit down and listen to this, and enjoy.

Beyonce + Diplo = Oh. Oh My.

Word on the internets is that the Newest Single for Beyonce’s newest album/foray into Indie World had hit the net, and it was decent. I could have given two shits, as I’m sure multiple media outlets will get to it short and wear it out for the masses. But it wasn’t until someone mentioned that one of my favorites… Diplo… had produced the track. I then suddenly cared. Taken from the people over at That Grape Juice (LOL Name), You get an ideal of what this project is going to sound like. Or you can just go straight to here and enjoy.

I love you, Potholes In My Blog. When I’m slippin, you’re right there with a musical cushion to catch me.

For the first single off their newest album (which also made Potholes Most Anticipated Albums of 2011 list), MMJ kinda leave behind their trademark Pedaled-Up technique and  take you on a 7 minute melody changing, bluegrass and country influenced, uptempo little journey that somehow leaves you wanting more even, though you just spent a good chunk of your time with it. Hard to pull off nowadays… but easy for these kids who are on their 99th album already (no not really. But you know what I mean).

You can right click-save as right here to download, or just click it to enjoy. (OOOOOh. I’m learnding MacBook. LOL).

Well. @IndiaBenet is starting to let her Music Light Shine. And I like what I hear/see. YouTube with me:

India Benet. Daughter of Eric Benet. It looks like she picked up the musical gene. Clearly. She first caught my attention when my girl Stephanie sent me a link of her doing an adorable and WELL done Cover/Medley of Nikki Minaj’s “Your Love” with Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved” on guitar. Yeah. Your initial reaction is probably “WTF” and you THINK it wouldn’t work… until India demonstrates the ability to link songs together in any key or tempo. As a Music Nerd… that is impressive. And displays massive talent.

Freaked out by how fast kids grow up and how much talent this one happens to be oozing, I instantly went to her YouTube page and searched related links to find out more on this kid’s awesome. And surely enough… her and Daddy have been at it for a while.

Kinda adorable… and really well done.
She took a break for a minute, probably just being cute and living life. But just recently, shes posted another video of her doing another wonderful cover. This time shes on the piano, singing her little heart out to A Fine Frenzy’s “Almost Lover.”

Interesting to say the least.
Welp, from here, its all about hoping that she gets out there the right way, and has the right people behind her music, if shes serious. And she should be. The talent is definitely there. Check her out on her twitter page, and enjoy.

So In Love with This Song.

Direct jack move from Johnathan and his eternal cool over at the new HipHopIsCoolAgain.com… Jill releases the second single from the SUPER-Anticipated “The Light of The Sun.” A classic, breezy sounding, summer-influenced, two-steppin soul jammy-jam, Jill and Anthony groove together perfectly to make a great little uptempo joint you can play at the family/4th of July Barbeque. Love, love, LOVE this single… hope it gets a video treatment soon.

That new Incubus sounds pretty good tho. Link:

Its like, 7 or 8 albums in for these guys, and they still sound wonderfully decent. Definitely do not suck. “Adolescents,” the newest single from their untitled (as I know it) album drifts between laid back melodic guitar riffs, syncopating to different sounds and rhythms throughout. Blatently showing off their growth as musicians. Loved and missed the energy and focus they brought on “Light Grenades;” Hope that same sound finds it way to the new album.  Sounds like it thus far.

Thanks Stephanie, for reminding and pointing it out for me.

I’ll be paying attention to this one. You Enjoy.

That new Mary J. Blige is sounding good. From the upcoming My Life II Album. Link:

Not a whole lot to say here, other than Mary is awesome.
Even though its technically just Mary singing the hooks to Diddy and Weezy’s rapping, the beat and the attitude you pick up from this joint are a good indication that Mary is getting back to that old school stuff we love. Check out “Someone to Love Me” above and Enjoy.
