I didnt know that The Cool Kids had a date on their new album. Or that its dropping like, next week. LoL.
Swipe from the kids over at Potholes. Because they’re awesome and I’m lazy.

The Cool Kids are back promoting their July 12 release, When Fish Ride Bicycles. Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish look to come together on an 11 track, playground four square battle, chock-full of cherry bombs and Pharrell beats. For now the duo swirly the N.E.R.D.’s production, “Summer Jam”, featuring Star Trak soul-singer Maxine Ashley. It follows the summer track formula: catchy drum pattern, stabbing guitar and smooth e-piano. It’s a glass of icy lemonade at 100 degrees outside with Neptunes flavor. “Gas Station”, has a Southern a la Outkast, Killer Mike, and Dungeon Family feeling. The track helps itself by adding UGK’s Bun B to the mix. Both songs are easy listening, cool kid, summer anthems. Stay chill in the heat by listening to these tracks. [via]

Enjoy.

Von Pea announces New Tanya Morgan Project; "You & What Army?!" I geek out inside.

While we’re pointing out Twitter announcements, dont know if I’m allowed to point this one out but considering Von Pea announced it a few days ago and I’ve just been running behind on getting to all the musicawesomes in my life… I might as well point out more new music coming from Tanya Morgan, my favorite boys.
Now when a musician says September, that usually means a month or two after that. Regardless, after that “Without Hands” track they just dropped, I’m just happy to know that theres more good music on the way.

Click on the links for more, and enjoy.

Dear Internets. The D’Angelo Album is REAL. Let me attempt to prove it to you (Part Two):

with 4 comments

Remember when I was telling you the D’Angelo Album is Real? Yeah. More Proof.

If you didn’t believe me, the backtracking, general watching, and the fact that a good friend is actually in the middle of mastering this album… then lets go ahead and get the clear and precise Questlove internet statments on top of all of that.

Coming from my friend Andrew and Gedi over at Prefix and Potholes, they went ahead and pointed out some awesomeness at The Urban Daily and on Facebook that I somehow missed out on… and awesome little quip that basically verifies everything I’ve been saying for the last few months, including the people who are involved in it.  Yay for facebook screenshots. Awesome. Click the links if you want more.

Okay.

Yeah, I should have posted this up ages ago, but Computer Armageddon folks. Still catching up. Still important to post up and update you on, since, you know. I kinda love this dude regardless.

Please let this be good.

Did we talk about the Big Boi and Modest Mouse Collaboration? Because its actually happening.

WAOW.

So after hearing the rumor of this odd yet amazing combination happening for a while, and silently waiting for some kind of confirmation… it finally comes through via the wonders of Big Boi’s Twitter and Twitpic. Then Pitchfork came through with the confirmation. Swipe from them, because I really don’t feel like typing all this sh*t out right now:

Last week, OutKast MC Big Boi revealed on his Twitter that he’s been in the studio with Modest Mouse, working on new music. To put things lightly, the news took a whole lot of us by surprise. MTV recently spoke with Big Boi about the collab and filled in a few blanks, though we still have no idea how this collaboration might sound or when we’ll get to hear it. According to the man himself, he’s serving as a producer on Modest Mouse’s new album, as is frequent OutKast collaborator Chris Carmouche. Thus far, Big Boi hasn’t done any rapping for the band. The crew has been working together at Big Boi’s own Atlanta studio, Stankonia. Talking to MTV, Big Boi described the collaboration in terms that only he could use: “I’ve been a fan of the band for a minute… We’re all musicians and producers and artists, and it’s just like a big-ass brainstorm, a brain-stormin’, tsunami, typhoon, tectonic-plates-movin’ kind of thing. We do all types of music, so to get the chance to jam with a jammin’-ass band, I knew it was going to be cool. We had a vibe too. We made a couple of records that are just jamming. It’s a hodgepodge of funkiness.” Modest Mouse has been a highly successful, critically acclaimed band for about a decade and a half now, but this still might be the nicest thing anyone has ever said about them.

I don’t want to overhype things, because when you get really excited for albums, they can sometimes leave you disappointed. But I will say that my brain exploded from reading the music awesomeness that is occurring somewhere out in this universe.

As things develop and music is released…. I will find a way to get it to you.

Stay tuned.

I love you, Potholes In My Blog. When I’m slippin, you’re right there with a musical cushion to catch me.

For the first single off their newest album (which also made Potholes Most Anticipated Albums of 2011 list), MMJ kinda leave behind their trademark Pedaled-Up technique and  take you on a 7 minute melody changing, bluegrass and country influenced, uptempo little journey that somehow leaves you wanting more even, though you just spent a good chunk of your time with it. Hard to pull off nowadays… but easy for these kids who are on their 99th album already (no not really. But you know what I mean).

You can right click-save as right here to download, or just click it to enjoy. (OOOOOh. I’m learnding MacBook. LOL).

That new Incubus sounds pretty good tho. Link:

Its like, 7 or 8 albums in for these guys, and they still sound wonderfully decent. Definitely do not suck. “Adolescents,” the newest single from their untitled (as I know it) album drifts between laid back melodic guitar riffs, syncopating to different sounds and rhythms throughout. Blatently showing off their growth as musicians. Loved and missed the energy and focus they brought on “Light Grenades;” Hope that same sound finds it way to the new album.  Sounds like it thus far.

Thanks Stephanie, for reminding and pointing it out for me.

I’ll be paying attention to this one. You Enjoy.
