Raekwon and Nas: Rich & Black – Video:

leave a comment »

Fresh off the LRG train, Raekwon and Nas team up for the video to “Rich and Black,” which 1. looks like it was a lot of fun to shoot and 2. proves that Nas is really sounding hungry right now. The newest single from the criminally slept on Shaolin vs. Wu Tang project, it gives you just a taste of how amazing this album really is.
Now I need to know why this isnt playing on MTVJams. Hrrrrm.

Enjoy, dammit.

I didnt know that The Cool Kids had a date on their new album. Or that its dropping like, next week. LoL.
Swipe from the kids over at Potholes. Because they’re awesome and I’m lazy.

The Cool Kids are back promoting their July 12 release, When Fish Ride Bicycles. Mikey Rocks and Chuck Inglish look to come together on an 11 track, playground four square battle, chock-full of cherry bombs and Pharrell beats. For now the duo swirly the N.E.R.D.’s production, “Summer Jam”, featuring Star Trak soul-singer Maxine Ashley. It follows the summer track formula: catchy drum pattern, stabbing guitar and smooth e-piano. It’s a glass of icy lemonade at 100 degrees outside with Neptunes flavor. “Gas Station”, has a Southern a la Outkast, Killer Mike, and Dungeon Family feeling. The track helps itself by adding UGK’s Bun B to the mix. Both songs are easy listening, cool kid, summer anthems. Stay chill in the heat by listening to these tracks. [via]

Enjoy.

The new Jean Grae Mixtape does not suck at all. Download:

Jean Grae, one of the illest females to ever do it and not receive any credit for it, finally refocuses on her music and releases a fairly decent mixtape for us all to enjoy. I havent even listened to it all the way through yet and “Cookies or Comas” is already pretty certifiable at this point. But then again, its Jean Grae.

Click here to pickup the mixtape, and enjoy.

So remember how I geeked out over that Shaun Boothe record that used that awesome sample from Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody? Well he’s returned (not that he ever left) with some new freshness for you to enjoy. “Do It For You,” his newest track hitting the internets is a uplifting dedication from Shaun to the art of Hip Hop and Music in general (“they say theres no money in music/so you should KNOW I do it for you”). You can check out the song and a short video with him taking you through the heart of his native Canadas by checking the YouTubes and stream/download the song by clicking here.

Find more music from Shaun on his YouTube page… and enjoy.

Theres waaaay too much new Yummy Common Music dropping to be Ignored (click here).
Direct Swipe from Potholes:

We finally have the full version Common’s “Ghetto Dreams” featuring Nas. This is the first official leak off Common’s upcoming album The Dreamer, The Believer. The track is produced by Chicago’s own No I.D. When fakeshoredrive.com premiered the snippet back in late May it definitely had all of us excited for Common’s upcoming album. After dropping “Summer Madness” and now “Ghetto Dreams” Common is definitely back and I don’t mean the guy who released that Universal Mind Control album. Oddly enough it was Nas who leaked the new track. No complaints from me.You can stream “Ghetto Dreams” below and download it after the jump.

I'm rockin with The Black Opera. They're pretty amazing.

with one comment

This is set to be pretty ill, fams.

Building their own interesting catalog of Boom-Bap, instrumentally amazing, lyrically intriguing brand of Smart People Hip Hop… The Black Opera are coming through and slowly becoming some of my new favorite Lyricists on the scene. Somewhat mysterious with their identies and holding tight to their anonymity,  TBO take a minute to hit you with their own personal remake of Drake’s “I’m On One.”

But that’s just them on someone else’s beat. If you wanna hear them at their best… listen to them on their own production.

If you need more (and I’m sure you do), make sure you check out The Black Opera’s work on YouTubes, make sure you visit their website… and lemme know what you think. These cats is pretty ill, fams. Pay attention.

Yay!

Finally making my dreams come true, Stalley brings his music and talents to the Southern California area with a show at The Terrace around the corner in Pasadena. Usually the ill sushi lunch spot, Terrace transforms into a pretty dope music spot once in a while after dark. And this looks like it should be fun. Maybe I can get him to do “Milk and Honey” Live for me and ask him about that evil comment about the Lakers and their fans. LMAO.

You can check out all my previous nerdery regarding Stalley by clicking here… and hopefully I’ll see you at the show.
