The first 3....

So what are these Blessings, you ask? I was just offered a wonderful writing position with the KICKASS site, Autostraddle. Wow. Wowwee wowwow. Now, if you’re from the old school, you remember that Autostraddle was one of the first sites to show love and appreciation to me… just at a time where I really needed it. Well ever since then, we’ve been following each others awesomes and plotting out the right time to form like Voltron to give you some of the best fucking music you’ll ever be exposed to. Crystal and the amazing editors at AS have decided that now is that time. *humbled.*

Guitars and Concerts? Well tonight was an amazing night. A fairly normal night for what I do, but still amazing nonetheless. You can’t complain after an evening of wonderful music provided by Zoe Keating and her SuperCello, Kaki King and her 9011 guitars… sitting backstage in the house Jon Brion built. Real Instrument Playing Appreciation Night. Its going down. Not to mention my bestie Matt Melvin making the drive from San Diego to hang out for a while. I was surrounded by win this evening. It was a great feeling. Windy is all over the video, as usual.

Anyways, with that being said… here’s where the Breaks part comes in. When the boss is in town, its time to get to work. There will be traveling involved, so I won’t be on my computer (like THAT) for a minute.  Also; with the new writing gig

...and the other 4. 7 is the magic number.

at Autostraddle… along with kickin it over at the World Famous Potholes… I’m going to have some writing pieces Ima need to focus on. I have to sound like I’m creditable and like I know wtf I’m talking about… so we’ll have to gear all my good vocabulary and vernacular that way for a minute. But I’ll still be here, randomly writing my ass off about whatever, and then not editing the shit, making me look like a total dork.

On top of all that… Its time to start getting serious about finishing the archival for the site and new layout. You guys know ive been wanting to update my baby for a while, but the health of my friend who is doing this site take priority (hey Chris… I love you. Get Better). The less I post, the faster it can get done… so we’ll see how that goes.

I wont be going anywhere. I’ll be around to update you and hopefully post up the new Dee-1 Interview I just finished.  Until then, just go through the archives, because im sure you havent read everything I’ve posted. You do that, and I’ll see you guys in a few days.

Love,
Me.

p.s.
I LOVE ANITA BAKER OH MY GOD.
That is all.

Another Banksy Stolen

The latest and most elusive Banksy street art in L.A., “Caution,” was stolen yesterday. Art thieves drove up in broad daylight and sawed away the Banksy piece from the wall. Several street art blog sites were reluctant to give the location of “Caution” and other Banksy pieces, due to theft and vandalism of his work. “Caution” was vandalized with a black tag before it was stolen, it was located at Soto and 1st street in the Boyle Heights area of East Los.

But seriously. Who does this? Gatdammit. Its time to get out there and see them before they aren’t there anymore, since people dont know how to fu*king act. Gatdammit.

Esperanza Spalding’s Pre-Grammy | Post-Grammy Interviews; Speaks on New Album, “Radio Music Society.”

Late to the party, but who cares. I still need to take some time to point out The first Jazz Musician to win Best New Artist Grammy. Amazing. If you haven’t seen this yet, take for 4 minutes of your life to get acquainted with the already legendary Esperanza Spalding. Her focus on education is constant and impressive; speaks on finishing NEW album, “RADIO Music Society.” This will be filled with awesome.

*Update: She also did a short interview with The Grammy Staff right before the show as well. #signs

Also, in short; because I refuse to go any more into it than this, but yeah.
This is just my honest opinion.

Fuck Justin Bieber, his Management Staff/Camp/Entourage, and his 7 million followers on twitter for their disgusting actions and reaction to his well deserved loss at the grammys. AND their actions towards that Selena Gomez kid too. His entire fanbase looks psychotic at this point, and is a direct reflection of EVERYTHING that is wrong with Music Culture, Appreciation and America in general.  If anyone didn’t let him know, your fans are a direct representative of YOU, you idiot. You had the power to tell those kids to lay off… instead, you CLEARLY instigated the situation. If you were reading the tweets at the time, you would have known about their incessant complaining, vandalizing of her wiki page and endless insults. You knew what you were doing.

I had respect for the little boy and his story, but after the reception of his fans and Esperanza’s story… It’s a wrap.

That is all.

The "Yemi Akinyemi Appreciation Post" Part Two | Original Choreography for Kanye's Runaway. Video:

with 2 comments

Yemi Akinyemi is a pretty great guy.
Not only did he take the time to reach out and say hello after I posted about his choreography in Kanye West’s “Runaway,” He also left me with a wealth of resources and content that I’d love to share with you guys.
Hopefully, this will be the start of a lot of awesomeness.

Let’s start the awesome with Yemi and his Principal Dancers doing the Original Choreography for Kanye’s “Runaway” video. Still very similar, you can see that there are some subtle differences throughout the performance. And still  Breathtaking. I love finding things like this so much. It’s even better when its sent to you. It’s like winning twice.

If the YouTube Nazis don’t let it embed, just go watch it on the site.
Make sure you catch up with Yemi on his Website and also on his Facebook Page.
Have fun.
