She's SO COOL.

I’ve talked about Rachelle Ferrell before (click here and act like you know).
At this point, it will be my 4th time seeing her in the same amount of years. And every time I go, the turnout grows just a bit more and more. It started with taking mom as a gift for mother’s day… and continued on ever since then. Why? Because she continues to give one of the best Live Jazz Performances I’ve seen. In a small venue format. Its AMAZING. This woman does everything. From singing with an 8 Octave range (INCLUDING THE WHISTLE REGISTER PEOPLE) to scat-vocals to BeatBoxing better than your favorite rapper… Rachelle Ferrell is possibly one of the greatest and UNDERRATED vocal talents of all time. OF ALL TIME. ©kanye.

You can click here to buy tickets… I already have. And I’m inviting buddies. I don’t care if you’ve never heard of her or her music before. You should get familiar and see this woman while you can. Eventually I’ll get around to making another appreciation post. Until then, you google this woman and witness her GREATNESS.

Well thats a win.

Wow. Bundle Up (Click Here). That Epic Minimalist 80s Hip Hop that I LOVE (thanks potholes).

After FINALLY getting off that bullshit Chocolate label, horrible contract they were on and moving up to Green Label Sound, it looks like this is the lead off single from their aptly and awesomely titled “When Fish Ride Bicycles.” I can’t wait. I’ve been waiting for something in full from these boys after seeing them go on right before The Noisettes at Detour Festival 2007. We need more hip hop like this. FUN.

Pennies. What Up Man. Black Mags. 88. Knocked Down. These dude have a legacy of feeding that old school hip hop revival sound that seems to be hot right now. And I can’t WAIT for them to get back to this full-time. Good luck boys.

I love seeing any band or  any person make a comeback to music after a long pause in their career. The Cars are no exception. The only worry for me, as always, is can they update their music to make their sound current? Yes. Yes they can. Hitting us with that Synth-Pop sound from the 80s that seems to making a comeback, it looks like The Cars are gonna show the kids how its supposta be done.

Nice little pop jam. Good for them.
If you want more, click here for this list of Cars Videos I already pulled up for you.
Enjoy.

Esperanza Spalding’s Pre-Grammy | Post-Grammy Interviews; Speaks on New Album, “Radio Music Society.”

with 4 comments

Late to the party, but who cares. I still need to take some time to point out The first Jazz Musician to win Best New Artist Grammy. Amazing. If you haven’t seen this yet, take for 4 minutes of your life to get acquainted with the already legendary Esperanza Spalding. Her focus on education is constant and impressive; speaks on finishing NEW album, “RADIO Music Society.” This will be filled with awesome.

*Update: She also did a short interview with The Grammy Staff right before the show as well. #signs

Also, in short; because I refuse to go any more into it than this, but yeah.
This is just my honest opinion.

Fuck Justin Bieber, his Management Staff/Camp/Entourage, and his 7 million followers on twitter for their disgusting actions and reaction to his well deserved loss at the grammys. AND their actions towards that Selena Gomez kid too. His entire fanbase looks psychotic at this point, and is a direct reflection of EVERYTHING that is wrong with Music Culture, Appreciation and America in general.  If anyone didn’t let him know, your fans are a direct representative of YOU, you idiot. You had the power to tell those kids to lay off… instead, you CLEARLY instigated the situation. If you were reading the tweets at the time, you would have known about their incessant complaining, vandalizing of her wiki page and endless insults. You knew what you were doing.

I had respect for the little boy and his story, but after the reception of his fans and Esperanza’s story… It’s a wrap.

That is all.

Two Door Cinema Club Appreciation (before they get Phoenix type-famous) Post.

Rock On, Ireland.

A few weeks ago, I mentioned these kids in my Favorites Of 2010 list. Two Door Cinema Club has a long history of being kickass, and making some incredible Indie Pop Rock hits. They’ve balanced a mix of Pop appeal, Phoenix and Franz Ferdinand in their sound, but still come off with a style completely their own. Now with MTV taking notice and more hipster/college freshman kids showing up to their shows, I figured I’d tell you about them now before the masses find out.

This band has a special place in “Amazing Memories Associated with Music ” history. Those times where you travel the world and find music by default. While purchasing my Jeremy Scott Originals from the Adidas Originals Store in Barcelona (What Up Luca!), I heard “I Can Talk” going hard in the Adidas store… which started a randomly epic dance party. After that, Justin and I took a brief last walk through Barcelona’s Gothic District and up Las Ramblas to take a Taxi up to Olympic Stadium Palau St. Jordi where we had a date with The Lakers. While walking up Las Ramblas, I heard “Something Good can Work” blaring from a El Cortes Ingles (their local westfield shopping). Only I seemed to know what I was going on that time, but I kinda geeked inside. We then hopped in a cab and our awesome Cab Driver Roberto proceeded to take us around a short, yet stunning tour of  Barcelona. While turning to his local pop radio station, “Cigarettes in the Theatre” came on. It was then I knew I had to blog about these guys eventually. Spain and Two Door Cinema will always go hand in hand from this point.

So here goes a nice YouTube Montage. Tell me what you think.
